IDAHO!

Don and I moved up to Idaho in early October. We have been slowly getting our bearings and exploring the area around our home. Around Thanksgiving, we took a drive out to St. Anthony, which had fantastic views of the Tetons (and some beautiful horses), and it was rich with wildlife! I can’t wait to see what the spring migration brings for birds and other wildlife. On my birthday, I ventured out to Camas National Wildlife Refuge to see if I could find anything. There wasn’t much for wildlife on the refuge, but I can tell it will be a goldmine in spring as the wetlands form again. There were fantastic views of mountain ranges in all directions, and there were a number of winter bird species around. I also found a fun group of draft horses and mules that wanted to have their pictures taken :-) After that refuge, I headed back towards home and stopped at a lake that was part of Market Lake Wildlife Management Area and observed bald eagles hunting on the ice and swans, ducks, and geese enjoying the remaining open water. On Christmas day, we ventured north and went into Montana a bit, where we found a huge bighorn sheep herd, and looks at swans, a rough-legged hawk, golden eagle, and several geese and magpie. We drove by Earthquake Lake and made a quick stop in West Yellowstone before heading back home. There are so many places we can’t wait to explore!

Please enjoy some photos from these adventures and stay tuned for LOTS more!

Happy New Year!
