CFO Annual Convention 2025

The Colorado Field Ornithologists 2025 Conference was held in Grand Junction this year. It was about a month later than typical, too, being held June 5 through 8. For this year’s conference, the focus was on our arid/desert birds and habitats. Over the course of 4 days, I was able to add several lifers to my list! I was very happy to be on the Thursday evening trip with a focus on hearing and/or seeing Flammulated Owls and Common Poorwills (both were heard!). I also enjoyed seeing my very first Gambel’s Quails, Band-tailed Pigeons, Black-throated Sparrows, and Bewick’s Wrens. It was fantastic to finally visit the Colorado National Monument and take in the unique landscape of the area. I am excited to see what birds I find at next year’s annual convention!
