June 11, 2025 Wednesday Walk
Saying goodbye to Wednesday Walks (for now) as life transitions happen with moving, getting married, and re-envisioning my business. Autumn, Marirosa, and Sandy joined me for a lovely afternoon walk at Belmar Park in Lakewood. We enjoyed great looks at the Double-crested Cormorant colony and babies, barn swallows and babies, ducks & geese with their babies, plus many turtles, dramatic skies that brought welcome cloud cover and a cool breeze, and no crowds! It was fun to also get a pint at Old 121 Brewhouse down the road about a 1/2 mile and add a new brewery to my list!
Check out some photos below and the e-bird checklist, here, if you want to see more about our walk!

If you're having a bad day, at least you aren't this turtle that all the birds are pooping on!
Dramatic afternoon skies!
The view from the pier
Odd event - a Common Grackle fledgling fell into the water and the parents tried to help it
A Red-winged Blackbird was also going after it
It made it to shore and got out!
Beautiful flowers!
