I really enjoyed birding on the afternoon of April 18, 2024!

See the e-bird checklists here & here.

It was a cold and somewhat rainy/snowy afternoon, but I was determined to find the Glossy Ibis that has been hanging out in Boulder County! I did find it, along with a nice mix of other birds at the tiny marsh the Ibis have been spending time at - including Blue-winged Teal, Canada Goose, Mallard, Common & Great-tailed Grackle, Red-winged Blackbirds, European Starlings, Killdeer, and even a Wilson’s Snipe! After about an hour of watching the Ibis, I got a tip to check out Jim Hamm Nature Area on the east side of Longmont. I decided I better go since I didn’t know when I would get back to the area. I was so pleased to find several more interesting birds - including Yellow-headed Blackbirds, more Great-tailed Grackles, an Osprey, several American White Pelicans, Great Blue Herons, Red-winged Blackbirds, American Robins, and an American Kestrel! All in all, it ended up being a great afternoon to get out - despite the chilly temps and light precipitation. Please enjoy the gallery from the afternoon below:
